Given the popularity of the Java software application development platform
and the market potential for embedded devices, there's a need to understand
how programs can take advantage of the use of Java for embedded application
development. This article investigates three Java tools that are available
for the embedded engineer and analyzes how well they map to the needs of the
embedded community.
This article draws on the results from a study of the emerging embedded Java
marketplace. The material was gathered by a team whose skills included a
solid knowledge of object-oriented programming, the Java programming
language, and embedded and real- time programming. It focuses on the
